New year, new plans, fresh thoughts. Discover 7 ways you can keep your telecoms fit and healthy for the year ahead with our handy tips.
The new year has arrived, and with it comes renewed promises of keeping fit and healthy. Gym, here I come!
So what about your telecoms? Well, here are 7 ways to keep your setup lean and mean in 2017. Feel the burn.
1. Think business continuity
Whether you’re battling the winter weather throughout January and February and need disaster recovery, or are looking at the impact of travel delays and staff leave during another busy summer of sport, planning for business continuity is a must.
An inbound call management platform will help you with all this and more. The service hosts your business numbers in the cloud and lets you point them wherever you wish – to staff mobiles if you can’t get to the office, for example.
It’s a simple, easy and intuitive way of ensuring you don’t miss calls – no matter what’s thrown your way.
P.S. Keep an eye out for our new DR guide – coming soon!
2. Get the need for speed
Connectivity is key for every business, and having the speeds you need for staff to work efficiently is a must. Nobody wants to wait for slow internet – it’s frustrating, leads to lower productivity and is ultimately costly to your bottom line.
Got the need for speed this year? You’ve got some great options. Fibre broadband will continue to be available to even more of us, while internet leased lines are looking ever-more appealing with the guaranteed speeds and strong SLAs they offer.
We’ll also see more of new technologies such as Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) as they’re rolled out across the UK.

3. Embrace the cloud
The cloud is the go-to buzz word in business at the moment. That looks set to continue throughout 2017 as businesses move from old, possibly clunky legacy technology to smooth and cost-efficient cloud applications such as hosted VoIP.
One of the key announcements of 2016 was that BT will be winding down ISDN in 2025 – which will result in many businesses moving to the cloud with SIP Trunks. Want to know more about the impact? Take a look at Jim’s vlog: Is ISDN Dead? What is SIP?
4. Get the camera rolling
We’re big fans of video conferencing. It’s a great way to interact and collaborate with your team – be they across the country or the globe – as if they were in the same room.
Alongside this, it cuts down on travel time and cost – which can quickly add up – and reduces your business’ carbon footprint. Who doesn’t love going green?
Keen to find out if video conferencing is for you? We’re running an Introduction to Video Conferencing event on 23rd February at The Gherkin, London. You can find out more about it, and reserve your seat, over in our events section. Spaces are limited, so be quick!
5. Stay safe
Another important topic that’s been bubbling over recent years, and will continue to do so in 2017, is network security.
Keeping your customer data safe and secure is important as hackers are always trying to find new ways of breaching your cyber security and making off with sensitive information.
Being proactive with a strong cyber security solution, complete with policies designed to keep you protected and compliant, is the best thing to do. Trust us, this isn’t one you want to leave to chance.
6. Be smart
Launching new campaigns and need to track their success? Or maybe you’re trying to identify bottlenecks where you could improve the service your customers get when they call?
Using call logging & analytics gives you access to great information on how and where calls come into your business, and how they’re handled once they do.
Using it, you can create reports that give you a unique insight into your business, and help you make informed decisions.
7. Make great plans & keep us in the loop
Launching that funky new campaign? Taking on new members of the team? Looking to move office? Want to provide better flexible working?
We always love hearing about your plans, and are always happy to help ensure their success however we can. Please feel free to drop your account manager a line, or contact us, if you’d like to chat.
We hope that your 2017 plans bring you great success, and that some of our tips help you along the way!
