High speed business broadband

high speed business broadband

Our consultative approach allows us to establish the best business broadband service for your business needs. The most appropriate broadband service from those listed here is established based on your upload and download requirements, your location and contention needs, and your data caps.

ADSL Contention

Contention ratios are used to establish how many users share a single bandwidth. Our ADSL business broadband services offer an average ratio of 5:1, with the minimum being 2:1 and the maximum 10:1. This is drastically lower than household broadband contention rates that average between a 20:1 and 50:1 ratio.

Simply put, the fewer users you contend with, the more bandwidth you are guaranteed, and the quicker your data will transfer.

21CN

21st Century Network is a well-established broadband network infrastructure supplied and maintained by BT. This technology forms the backbone of many broadband services Nomis Connections provides. It consists of fibre cabling between cabinets, allowing super-fast data exchange and improving broadband speeds.

FTTP

Fibre to the Premises is a brand new service, provision of which will rapidly increase in the coming years. This service delivers download speeds of up to 110Mbps by utilising fibre up to the office of the end user, making information communication instantaneous.

FTTC

Fibre to the Cabinet offers exceptionally high speeds to remote businesses, or those that require high broadband speeds. The traditional cable existing between offices and the local cabinet is then linked with a super-fast fibre cable to the exchange – offering download speeds of up to 40Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10Mbps.

ADSL MAX

This broadband service runs over traditional analogue/copper lines to the cabinet and then through BT’s 21CN technology where available. This service offers up to 8Mbps download speeds and 1.3Mbps upload speeds.

ADSL2+

Like ADSL MAX, this broadband service works over traditional analogue lines and is then coupled with BT’s 21CN at the cabinet. This service offers improved speeds of up to 24Mbps download and 1.3Mbps upload.

Annex M

For businesses that require quicker upload speeds to that of ADSL, Annex M broadband uses intelligent rate-adaptive technology that diverts 10-15 per cent of download speeds to aid uploading. The result is a service that gives uploads speeds of up to 2.5Mbps. During low upload periods, this service offers up to 24Mbps download speeds.

Bonded broadband

Bonded broadband solutions combine two lines of ADSL MAX or ADSL2+ to offer double the download and upload speeds for businesses that require higher data transfer speeds. A bonded ADSL MAX service would offer up to 16Mbps download and 2.6Mbps upload speeds, while ADSL2+ would offer up to 48Mbps download and 5Mbps up.

Load-balanced broadband

This solution increases the capacity of broadband services. Again pairing ADSL MAX or ADSL2+ broadband lines, the amount of data running through these two lines is then balanced to offer maximum stability and spread usage evenly across two lines. Specific data can also be set to run through specific lines; email through the first and internet through the second, for example.
